genesis and the second marking period progress
The students and I have had a discussion on their first marking period progress and their grades. All students have done very well. I explained to them that their genesis is simply a snapshot at the time they look at it throughout the marking period. If a few hw assignments have been added and they have done well or poorly that does not indicate where they will stand in 10 weeks. It is an ongoing process of assessment. We have also talked about how the first marking period is a transition and that their efforts in the areas of participation and preparation will require more effort as the material becomes more challenging. They will be setting foals with you at the December parent studnet portfolio sharing in how they want to focus their efforts in areas of strengths and weaknesses. I always tell them they are a whole child in performance and while genesis does capture assessments in many areas of their performance it is not always a true indicator of how they perform on a dail basis adn to always keep that in mind as they strive to reach their potential each day.
